Aan de ene kant worden ze gediscrimineerd door het maatschappelijk middenveld en aan de andere kant worden ze ook gediscrimineerd binnen hun eigen Roma-gemeenschappen, waar de patriarchale opvattingen nog steeds erg aanwezig zijn, daarom geloven veel van deze vrouwen dat hun rollen zijn beperkt tot hun huishouden. Roma-vrouwen zijn zich vaak bewust van de kwestie van discriminatie door het maatschappelijk middenveld, terwijl ze zich minder bewust zijn van de discriminatie binnen hun eigen – Roma-gemeenschappen, omdat ze de kwestie van gender gerelateerde discriminatie binnen hun eigen gemeenschap vaak niet erkennen.<\/p>\n
Ons voornaamste idee is om Roma-vrouwen basiskennis te geven over discriminatie, de verschillende soorten en niveaus ervan, en hen te stimuleren om discriminerend gedrag te herkennen en een standpunt tegen hen in te nemen. Aangezien het onderwerp discriminatie onder Roma-vrouwen nogal gevoelig ligt, moeten we de vertrouwelijkheid van informatie\/inhoud\/gesprekken en de ethische code respecteren.<\/p>\n

Gebruik van nieuwsberichten die verband hebben met Roma-gemeenschappen, Roma-vrouwelijke deelnemers bespreken het algemene ideaal van de Roma-gemeenschap binnen het maatschappelijk middenveld, geven deelnemers voorbeelden van hun eigen ervaringen met discriminerend gedrag en cre\u00ebren ze idee\u00ebn hoe om te gaan met verschillende soorten discriminatie.<\/p>\n

Aangezien de activiteit bedoeld is voor Roma-vrouwen, is het raadzaam dat de workshop wordt gefaciliteerd door een vrouw of vrouwen, daar het gemakkelijker zal zijn om het wederzijdse vertrouwen te cre\u00ebren dat nodig is voor Roma-vrouwen om hun eigen ervaring te delen met betrekking tot discriminatie.<\/p>\n
Veel Roma-vrouwen hadden geen kans om het basisonderwijs te volgen en daarom hebben velen problemen met lezen en\/of schrijven. Voorzie de workshop, indien nodig, van een tolk of ten minste \u00e9\u00e9n extra persoon die de deelnemers kan ondersteunen bij het lezen en analyseren van de artikelen.<\/p>\n
Probeer bij het zoeken naar nieuwsartikelen ten minste een of twee personen te vinden die positief over de Roma-gemeenschap schrijven.
\nLet wel bij het bespreken van discriminatie binnen de Roma-gemeenschap dat je niet over de schreef gaat, want dit is een zeer gevoelig en persoonlijk onderwerp. Als je merkt dat de deelnemers niet op hun gemak zijn met de manier waarop de discussie gaat, zorg er dan voor dat je de richting van de discussie verandert.<\/p>\n
Geef de deelnemers informatie over hoe ze discriminatie op een voor hen begrijpelijke manier kunnen melden, begeleid hen indien nodig door het proces van het melden van discriminatie.<\/p>\n

TIPS FOR FACILITATORS:<\/h5>\r\nAs the activity is meant for female members of Roma community, we would recommend that the activity is facilitated by a woman\/women, as it is going to be easier to create the mutual trust, needed for Roma women to share their own experience related to discrimination.\r\n\r\nMany Roma women did not have a chance to obtain the basic education, therefore many have problems with literacy. Provide interpreter if needed or facilitate the activity with at least one more person who will be able to support the participants while reading and analysing the media articles.\r\n\r\nWhen searching for media articles, try to find at least one or two that write about Roma community positively.\r\n\r\nWhen discussing the discrimination within the Roma community, be careful not to cross the line as this is a very sensitive and personal topic. If you see that the participants aren't being comfortable with the way in which the discussion is leading, make sure to change the flow of the discussion.\r\n\r\nProvide the participants with information about how to report discrimination in a simple way that they will understand, lead them through the process of reporting discrimination if needed.\r\n\r\n\u00a0\r\n
